So, Crossed The Line. Where do I even start? This album is just... heavy. That’s the first thing you’ll notice - it’s loud, aggressive, and straight to the point. Disoriented clearly wanted to make something that grabs you by the throat, and they’ve absolutely nailed that. If you’re into groove metal, death metal, or anything that hits like a freight train, you’re going to have a great time with this one.
The guitars are massive. I mean, the riffs here are the kind that make you instinctively bob your head - those thick, crunchy grooves are impossible to ignore. But it’s not just repetitive chugging; there’s a lot of thought behind these riffs. They twist and turn in unexpected ways, keeping things fresh. And every once in a while, you’ll catch a little melodic detail buried in all the chaos, which adds some nice contrast.
Drums and bass? They’re locked in, no doubt about it. The drums hit like a jackhammer, but they don’t feel overdone or robotic. You can tell the drummer knows how to hold back just enough to let the grooves breathe. And the bass doesn’t just follow along - it adds this extra depth that ties the whole sound together.
Now, the vocals. Honestly, they’re aggressive. The growls are raw and full of emotion, and you can tell there’s real anger and passion driving them.
One thing I really appreciated about the album is how it flows. It’s not just a bunch of heavy songs slapped together; there’s an actual sense of progression. The band seems to know exactly when to push the intensity and when to pull back a little (even if those moments are rare). That said, by the time I got to the end of the album, I was kind of wishing for more variety. Don’t get me wrong - this thing is a beast, but a few quieter or slower moments would’ve made the heavier parts hit even harder.
If I had to nitpick, I’d say some parts feel a little too safe. Like, you can hear their influences pretty clearly in a few tracks, and while they execute everything flawlessly, it doesn’t always feel like they’re breaking new ground. But hey, it’s their debut album - they’ve got plenty of time to experiment and really carve out their own lane.
At the end of the day, Crossed The Line is a killer debut. It’s raw, it’s intense, and it leaves a mark. And honestly, I’m excited to see where Disoriented goes next - they’ve got the talent and the energy to do something really special.
