Hail and welcome to Iron Backstage! Before we begin the interview, could you please introduce yourself to our readers and provide a brief history of Sun Fall Down?
Hi Iron Backstage! First of all thanks for the chance of this interview. We are from Milan, Italy and we formed as a band in 2022. Sun Fall Down originated as a consequence of our previous musical project Beatrix Boulevard. We add one more guitar to our lineup and create Sun Fall Down with the idea of a more modern sound but keeping alive our musical roots. We immediately start writing new songs and in almost a year we had an LP ready to be recorded. After recording “Burn”, in early 2025, we came into contact with Argonauta Records and we signed with them.
How would you describe your music, and which bands have been your biggest influences?
We think of our music as a mixture of our several influences, most of them coming from the ‘90s. Grunge, NuMetal and also Heavy Dark Rock are our references. Band such as Alice In Chains, Peal Jam, Deftones, Incubus but also Placebo, Linkin Park or even Paradise Lost are something that probably influenced our sound. We like metal and rock in its moltitude of genres, we would like to bring this in our sound trying to add something that came from our personal taste and feeling.
How many albums or demos has Sun Fall Down released so far, and which ones are your personal favorites?
We actually released just one LP “Burn” via Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records.
Has Sun Fall Down's music evolved over the years, and if so, how?
Everything is evolving and so we are us as Sun Fall Down, we start from our love for Grunge and Metal and tried to insert more modern rock elements in order to create a personal sound. We want our roots to be recognizable but we also want to be modern in our sound.
How long does it typically take for Sun Fall Down to record an album?
We write a lot of songs, we start from an idea, a riff or something rhythmic and then try to expand it in order to create a good song. After having a good number of songs then we start choosing what is good for the album. We recorded Burn in almost 6 months during evening or weekend sessions. I can say that it took almost 2 years to create Burn from the writing of the first song till the end of the recordings.
Can you tell us more about your latest album, "Burn”?
Burn is made of 10 tracks, intro, 8 original songs and a dark rock cover of Back To Black of Amy Winehouse (only in digital version). Burn is thought like a journey in search for himself so there are both aggressive and melancholic moments during the album, like in life. The Astronaut on the cover is a traveller and the sun that he holds in his hands symbolizes the fruit of his discover during his journey, an higher consciousness of himself.
What's next for Sun Fall Down? Are you working on any new albums, and if so, can you give us some details?
We are working on new songs. We already have a bunch of them ready to be recorded. Our Idea is to release two Ep during the next year and an half. I can tell you that the sound will be a little bit different, more obscure and heavy.
Do you have any upcoming tours or gigs planned to promote your latest album?
We are planning some dates in Italy but we are very focused on creating new material. We’d like to release new music soon. If we had the chance to play in an interesting place we will do.
Are there any plans for Sun Fall Down to play over the Europe or the USA in the future?
We’d like to do it, we are open to any proposal.
Have you ever done any opening acts for major heavyweight bands? If so, when and where?
Not yet unfortunately !!
What is your opinion on the alt rock scene in Milan?
Milan is always been one of the most important city for music in Italy. If I had to do a name of a very good band from Milan I’ll say “Anewrage”.
Do you have any messages for our readers?
Something very easy, listen to our first album Burn. Give us a chance, let us know what you like or not of our music and always support new band and new music.
