ANUBIS Release "Anthromorphicide"; Share "My Favorite Cage" Video Feat. Zhariah

The anticipated sophomore full-length from Southern California heavy metal outfit ANUBIS, out now via M-Theory Audio.

To celebrate the release, the band has teamed up with guest vocalist Zhariah for the premiere of another emphasis track from the new album including a music video filmed by Alex Nasla (Edge of Paradise, Witherfall). WATCH HERE https://youtu.be/f1m6MTxbMi4?si=T8be6XYZ2iiu8yzD

The "My Favorite Cage" video features a striking vocal appearance by Zhariah adding another layer to the band’s signature aggression highlighting ethereal and melodic tendencies showcasing yet another dimension and facet of ANUBIS’ latest effort. The track explores themes of internal entrapment and psychological transformation, themes that resonate throughout the album's title—literally translating to "the death of the human form."

"I first saw Zhariah in footage of her performing at an event called AFROPUNK. Her energy was so wild and explosive that my immediate thought was,"oh my god, I HAVE to work with her," explains singer Devin Reiche. “When Will showed me his demos for the song that became ‘My Favorite Cage,’ I knew that track would be perfect for her."

“I’ve been craving a metal moment, and ‘Favorite Cage’ was me finally giving into that chaos,” states Zhariah. “I know it’s going to shock people—but in the way that makes them pay attention. Working with Anubis Devin pushed me vocally in a way I’ve never experienced before. He helped me unlock something darker and more powerful in my voice… and honestly, I’m just getting started.”

“I like to think it’s obvious this tune is an unambiguous tribute to Amaranthe. The backstory isn’t the most noble one…I was hooked on kratom for years and quit cold-turkey in 2020,” reveals bassist Will Buckley. “Hearing ‘The Nexus’ gave me my first real joy during the brutal withdrawals and anhedonia, so I wrote the music to ‘My Favorite Cage’ as a heavy nod to them, just to sort of ‘plant a flag on the feeling.’ I’m just stoked my bandmates were down to work on it!”

“My Favorite Cage” joins a selection of songs previewed leading up to release including “Nuclear Dawn” https://youtu.be/-meMf6UutfQ?si=rxO7eRryyuP9U_lH

‘Anthromorphide’ proves the band’s evolution into a formidable force. The album captures a unique intersection of styles, blending the technical precision of thrash with the soaring melodies of power metal.

Praise for ‘Anthromorphicide’
:

"...the pomp of power metal but with a bit more metallic thrash grit... an album well worth checking out…. Immediately obvious is the speed and heaviness, and yet the prominent feature is how melodic the music and vocals are... an enjoyable ride." — The Razor's Edge
combines power metal’s anthemic songwriting with thrash’s chugs and aggressive riffing, it feels more vibrant and deliberate. Fun abounds when songs strong-arm listeners into singing along. Anthromorphicide isn’t chintzy, singalong cheese, though, and Anubis adds plenty of heart and grit into the formula.”  - Angry Metal Guy
"Anthromorphicide" is a strong power/thrash album that perfectly blends the two styles. - Hell-fire magazine
“the band practically invites you to join in on intense circle pits or mosh pits, headbang furiously, and occasionally sing along at the top of your lungs. Oh, and we almost forgot to mention: air guitar enthusiasts will certainly find plenty to sink their teeth into here as well. Track after track, the band manages to win us over and thoroughly impress us.” - Musika

‘Anthromorphicide’ is available now across all major digital streaming and download platforms, as well as on jewelcase CD or limited-edition colored vinyl (300 metallic gold) in record stores and for direct order through the M-Theory Audio webstore www.m-theoryaudio.com/store

“The album title translates to the death of the human form, a word meaning the transformation, evolution or the shedding of one’s form and the embracing of another,” explains Devin. “We’ve chosen this as the name of our second album as it is a perfect snapshot of a band evolving in real time. We’ve had a lot of members, and a lot of different artistic goals in the past year and a half and all of them have left a mark on this album in one way or another. Not least of which, of course, is the decision to bring aboard a new second vocalist with 85% of the album already in the can.

You’re going to hear a lot of different styles and guest performances, some of which will come as a complete surprise to a lot of people no matter how close you’ve been following us. One thing that has remained completely unchanged, since the first days of this band is our genuine passion for combining melody and heaviness in new and unique ways.”

ABOUT ANUBIS:
Based in Los Angeles ANUBIS began in 2019 as an outlet for singer Devin Reiche to broaden his horizons from simply playing bass in HATCHET and to relish in creating traditional metal inspired by his influences and to use his voice. Joined by bassist Will Buckley the group released several EPs and singles over the years building a reputation online and in southern California, culminating in the signing to M-Theory Audio and the release of their proper debut ‘Dark Paradise’ in 2024.

While continual line-up turnover has plagued them nothing has stopped ANUBIS from continually writing, recording and performing. The current line-up is rounded out by Ulises Hernandez (Novareign, Judicator) on guitar, David Velez (Witherfall) on drums, vocalist Hanna Preston, and the returning Justin Escamilla (Tower Guard) on guitar. ANUBIS has shared stages all over the west coast and through Texas alongside names such as Delain, Xandria, Warbringer, Omnium Gatherum, Aether Realm, Artillery, Tyr, Seven Kingdoms, Striker, Lutharo, Silver Talon, and more.
