Old Moon blends the power of blackened melodic metal with heart-wrenching lyricism that speaks to the darkest corners of human emotion. Birthed in the wet grounds and grey skies of the Pacific Northwest, OLD MOON aims to bring a unique new band to tell the tales of life's sorrows. Depression, grief, loss of self and death are the keys that stitch these heart-aching lyrics together.
Accompanied to feed the image, a beautiful orchestra fills the air, meeting a breath of guitar melodies entangling melodic death and post black metal together in solidarity. Binding a tense and resonating sound that strikes the mind and embraces the heart, this is OLD MOON.
“’Home to Nowhere’ is an incredibly deep and emotional track. It describes a lot of hurt and regret and just the feeling of longing for something that doesn't exist anymore. Writing this song was a challenge. I had to put myself in that place to be able to articulate it properly and have it translate as profoundly as its meant. I had to feel it fully to express it properly,” explains singer Michael Priest. “I think you can feel that in the music, not just with this one but throughout the entire album. Every song comes from a very personal place. Each has their own voice and story. With this album it gives those things a place to live which seems a bit ironic considering the title."
Decibel Magazine has this to say about the new single, “Musically, Old Moon have more in common with their European post-/melodic black metal counterparts compared to their American peers, finding common ground with bands like Ellende and Harakiri for the Sky, evoking an almost dreamlike quality with their guitar melodies.”
“Home To Nowhere” is more emotional and heart-wrenching while intense highlighting the depth and maturity of the band’s compositions and vision as a nice contrast to the more hostile and straightforward first single, “Obsidian” https://youtu.be/LKiPMu1j5HE?si=KhQgsOR-D1lKXRku or the darker, doomier and more ominous “A Rest To My Name” https://youtu.be/Rb99B9_IHhw?si=5oBIPSJoMXYMCix1
All three songs come from the group’s forthcoming full-length debut, ‘Home To Nowhere’ out May 8th on CD, limited-edition (300) smoke colored vinyl and digital. Pre-Order now at www.m-theoryaudio.com/store or https://oldmoonmusic.bandcamp.com
