Austrian Sludge Doomsters TARLUNG Release New Single “Axis Mundi”

With Axis Mundi set for release on January 30, 2026 via Argonauta Records, Vienna’s sludge doom force TARLUNG present the album’s second single, drawn from its final track. Self-titled and closing out the album, “Axis Mundi” marks the second single from TARLUNG’s upcoming full-length. The track continues to build on the band’s signature sludge doom sound, offering a powerful culmination of the record’s atmosphere and sonic intensity.

“Axis Mundi” is the second single from TARLUNG's upcoming full-length album ‘Axis Mundi’. It is the title track, and the final track of our new album. For our standards, it's a relatively fast-paced song that transitions into some sophisticated harmonies in the second half. The song's lyrical theme is the chaotic state of our world: Under a heavy load the world axis bends and is bound to break. A machine built to enslave and grind. Welcome to a dead world with a dead soul."

Axis Mundi marks the return of TARLUNG with eight tracks of crushing riffs, chugging rhythm and fierce growls. The album captures a world in turmoil, growing more chaotic and out of line every day, and asks the question of how to maintain one’s sanity until the moment the “Axis Mundi” bursts.

Once again TARLUNG deliver nasty, in-your-face sludge and doom, but they also explore experimental textures and moments of contemplation within the chaos, only to return to uncompromising brutality.
