II’ works. “Following in the creative spirit of ‘Fields of Emerald Fire,’ this song was born out of a deliberate challenge: to write and shape it within the span of a single hour,” reflects guitarist/vocalist James Benson. “’The Peak of Denali’ reflects on the duality of ascent, through both the physical evolution of mankind and the deeper journey of spiritual enlightenment, while also contemplating humanity’s troubling descent in its relationship to its lifeblood. The title itself was chosen long before a single lyric had been written, serving as the guide that shaped the song’s direction. From that foundation, we built this song upon the belief that humanity is inseparably tied to the Earth, connected through both spiritual resonance and material existence.”
“In the following months, we will release our first cover since 2014’s cover of Forefather’s ‘Wolfhead’s Tree,’ and the final single tied to ‘Fields...’ and ‘...Denali.’ We hope to finish production and mixing for our next project in 2026. In the meantime, hold onto hope, stay mindful, and walk in solidarity with your communities.”
“The Peak of Denali” features the return of vocalist Chela Rhea Harper (who returns to the Amiensus lineup since 2014) alongside James, Joe Waller (guitar), D. Todd Farnham (bass), Kelsey Roe (vocals) and Chris Piette (drums) It was just last year that the epic, melodic, progressive black metal group released not one but two records worth of engaging material that was critically lauded and had fans embracing the impact of the group’s adventurous sound. Not resting on laurels AMIENSUS give fans the first of several new tracks in the works, so sit back and enjoy.
AMIENSUS formed in Minnesota in 2010 as a project amongst friends, who self-released an EP that same year. It took 3 years for the band to develop into a full group that included expanding their lineup way beyond state lines to find the right talents and mindsets and release the atmospheric black metal must-have album ‘Restoration’ in 2013 (Pest Prod/Tridroid, reissued by Casus Belli/Wooaaargh). Two years later AMIENSUS were back with the more polished and well-received ‘Ascension,’ which introduced Alec and Todd to the ranks. 2017 marked the release of the lengthy EP, ‘All Paths Lead To Death’ (Apathia/Black Lion Records) which saw the band drop some of the heavy orchestration in favor of more melodic death and black metal passages and introduced Chris. In 2020 AMIENSUS signed with Transcending Records to release the heralded ‘Abreaction,’ which now also included Kelsey. That same lineup remains today, signed to M-Theory Audio, and recorded the aforementioned ‘Reclamation’ albums.
