Ill Geared from Helsinki dropped Ill Beginnings in Feb 2025 and it’s a goddamn trainwreck - loud, sloppy, awesome. Tatu Virta got sick of his whiny alt-rock crap in 2023, said fuck it, grabbed Cem Karakas who screams like a bear with a chainsaw, and Jani-Petteri Polo who smashes drums like they pissed him off. They’re a mess, and I love it - playing some bastard mix of groove, thrash, and doom metal that hits like a brick.
It’s all over - groove riffs so fat you’d trip over ’em, then thrash kicking you in the teeth, then doom slow as hell like you’re drowning in tar. Virta’s guitar’s a beast, chugging one sec, shredding the next, loud enough to wake the neighbors. Karakas growls and yells like he’s mad at the world, bass thumping like a fist. Polo’s just banging away, wild, sloppy, fun as shit. No rules, just noise.
They’ve been playing live since 2024, more coming 2025 - bet they’re a riot, probably break shit on stage. Sounds thin sometimes, like they recorded it in a garage, and they bounce around like they can’t decide what to smash first. But it’s got guts, you know? Unsigned still - labels are dumbasses. More coming end of 2025, gonna be nuts. Ill Beginnings is raw, dumb, loud - like your drunk pal starting a band with a broken mic. 3.8 out of 5, ‘cause it’s a blast.
