Hellproof interview

Hi, Hellproof. Supernova will be released next year. You must be excited?

Hi! Yeah we are really excited. Whole album was recorded almost two years ago. We made a lot of changes, added some things and created our first music video since then. So the whole process of releasing and promoting Supernova is a really big thing for all of us.

First of all, we would like to know about the formation of the band. When and how was it formed? Do you think the band name ‘Hellproof’ perfectly describes your music and philosophy?

First members of Hellproof were Artur and Kamil. They started to play together and make some material. Then they invited Patryk for a second guitar. Some time later Patryk asked Janek to play bass and this is it. Everything started about four or five years ago. The band name is our second option. At first we wanted to name band “Life after suicide” because it’s pretty important topic for us. But we decided that this name could bring to mind some traumatic thoughts or memories for some people so we changed it. Hellproof is linked with things that we believe in but it’s also short and sounds pretty metal.

Okay now tell us something about Supernova, and the lyrical themes behind each track. What are the ideas you wanted to put across?

Lyrics are inspired by things that happen in our lives and things that are important for us. For example our first single “Flame in You” is about dealing with suicide problem. For sure we didn't want to write lyrics we couldn't relate to. But even if the lyrics talk about some tough or sad experiences they are also uplifting.

Where and when did you record Supernova? Are you satisfied with it?

We started recording this album in “Perlazza Studio” with Przemek “Perła” Wejmann on September 2020. Unfortunately it was right in the middle of Covid pandemic so for many reasons we didn't have time to record all vocals in the studio. Kamil and Janek rearranged Kamil’s place and did the rest in home conditions. Then all mix and mastering were done by Daniel Witczak and Krzysztof Małagowski in “Aurora Studio”. We are really satisfied by the effect but the whole process gave us a lot of experience and now we know what mistakes we can avoid in the future.

Are you going to release some official band merch?

Absolutely we will make our merch. It takes a while to create something good looking but for sure we’ll have merch for our first shows. For now you can preorder our album.

What are Hellproof’s musical and non-musical influences?

We are for sure influenced by our favourite bands like: While She Sleeps, Extol, Bring Me The Horizon or Iron Maiden. As you can see we all listen to different kinds of music but what we play is a combination of all these styles. Non-musical influences are hard to list precisely but we try to take inspiration from everything that happens in our lives no matter if it’s good or bad.

Could you please express your personal views on religion and god?

For us it's quite simple:

God - yes, religion - no.

Shall we expect some gigs across USA or Europe near time?

To play gigs in the USA is an absolute dream. We really want to get involved completely in playing music and take every chance we’ll have to play gigs across the whole globe but Europe will be the first step.

When shall fans expect something new from you? Videoclip, single, documentary etc?

Our third and the last single will be released 13th January 2023. Exactly two weeks later the whole album will premiere. You can put this date in your calendars!

Thank you for having us!
