What are you guys up
to these days?
Erol: Greetings
right back! Right now, we’re riding the momentum of our debut album release, Spiritual Warfare. But more importantly, we’ve taken the band from a two-man
studio project into a four-piece live entity.
The search for the right brothers-in-arms is over—with Oli Keller on vocals and guitars and Danis Kelesidis on bass, our studio vision
has come alive. We’re currently preparing to bring our wall of sound to the stage and actively
writing sharper, new material together.
For those who haven't
discovered Inlitnment yet,
how would you introduce the band to our readers?
Erol: Welcome to Inlitnm(9)nt—or just Inlitnment! It's a phonetic riff on "enlightenment." We are an uncompromising heavy metal unit delivering
a monolithic, crushing wall of sound built on weight,
space, and raw conviction. We don't do nostalgia, trend-chasing, or Celtic
Frost cover-band fluff; whether you call it doom, sludge, or old-school
heavy metal, it’s a visceral, emotional force designed to cut straight to the bone.
Could you tell us a bit
about how Inlitnment came together?
When did you first start
thinking about the band?
Erol: Back in early 2025, Franco and I found ourselves standing alone after the other members of our band, Oath Of Cranes, suddenly decided to shift their priorities. We started writing songs just to keep the momentum going, but as the riffs grew darker and suffocatingly
dense, we realized
this wasn't the same project—it was a different, predatory beast. The music demanded its own identity:
the cranes were gone, and Inlitnment
was born.
You recently
released Spiritual Warfare. What can you
tell us about the album? And could
you take us through the lyrics and ideas behind the songs?
Erol: Released on Čachtice Records
on June 19, 2026, Spiritual Warfare was
recorded as a duo before we recruited Oli and Danis. Conceptually, "spiritual warfare" is an existential
battle against a modern era where human value is reduced to profit margins, media indoctrination is rampant, and automated systems
threaten human purpose. It’s a fight for
individual identity, clarity, and spirit against a world trying to hollow you out.
The album Spiritual Warfare tracks a harrowing internal journey:
• You Are Just Noise Not Yet Music: Your cozy comfort zone shattered by cold reality.
• Spiritual Turmoil: The rude awakening accompanied by terrifying yet healing shamanic chants.
• Spiritual Warfare: Finding an anchor when everything collapses—learning to trust what you only thought you believed.
• Spiritual Slave: Realizing
that conforming to a confused society made you get everything wrong.
• Spiritual Unlight: The seduction
of "dead light" and an ego desperately crying
out to be noticed.
• Spiritual Bypass: Hiding behind dogmatic, scientific, or esoteric
facts to avoid real self-reflection.
• Spiritual Seducer: Siding with the enemy for selfish gains, forgetting you'll
never hold power in hell.
• Spiritual Stillness: The terrifying
total standstill after
the ego lies completely
shattered.
• Spiritual Inlight: Repentance, healing, and realizing everything is interconnected—All is One.
How has the
reaction been so far? Are you already
working on new material?
Erol: The reaction to Spiritual Warfare has been fantastic,
especially among purists and collectors picking up the limited vinyl and CD editions! And yes, we are already hard at work on new material.
Co-writing with Oli and Danis has brought a new edge; the new tracks
are slightly more aggressive and sharp, spicing
up our core vision with progressive,
death, and black metal elements
while preserving our signature DNA. You'll definitely hear it on the next record!
What do you think makes
Inlitnment work so well as a band? And let's leave
the Celtic Frost history aside for a moment ;)
Erol: It’s
the uncompromising chemistry and true
dedication. In Switzerland, finding players who
possess technical skill
and are willing
to throw their heart,
soul, and conviction into the music is rare. Franco and I laid down a clear, primitive, and instinctual foundation, and bringing in Oli and Danis—who represent a different generation with roots in modern black, death, and progressive metal—spiced up that core vision.
Have you ever had a really bad, or simply hilarious, moment on stage, either with Inlitnment or with one of your previous bands?
Erol: When you’ve spent years dragging heavy gear through stage lights and foggy venues, chaos is guaranteed tofindyou! While we keep things dead-serious musically, we’ve had our fair share
of classic live mishaps. The
trick is to keep rolling with absolute
conviction so the audience thinks
the destruction was planned all along! Chaos
can also happen in
the studio, like when my guitar amp literally went up in
smoke during the very last—and very loud—takes
of the outro to "Spiritual Inlight." Talk about good timing!
If someone
asked you what makes Inlitnment different from other bands coming out
of Switzerland, what would you tell them?
Erol: Rather than aiming for polished, safe, or over-analyzed soundscapes, we focus on raw attitude, sonic weight, and deliberate space. We combine decades of deep-rooted heavy metal history with fresh, aggressive perspectives, creating music that feels genuinely dangerous, raw, and unpredictable.
How well do you guys actually
get along with each other? Is it all harmony in the
rehearsal room, or do you have your fair share of arguments?
Erol: It clicked instantly! A defining moment
was when we shot the music video
for
"Spiritual Slave" in our rehearsal room. We pulled it off in
just three or four hours with a
total DIY mindset because the energy and momentum were completely authentic. Of course,
when four passionate musicians are pushing hard, things get intense—but it’s
never ego-driven bickering. We have a shared focus on making the sonic delivery
as heavy and sharp as possible.
Are there any Swiss bands around at the moment that you particularly like or would recommend
to our readers?
Erol: I think the Swiss heavy
scene has always
punched above its weight class!
Beyond
our own circles,
there's a killer undercurrent of raw, extreme metal,
darkwave, and sludge bands working in local underground spaces. We always respect any Swiss acts that skip the glossy trends, put their genuine heart and soul into their craft, and play with real attitude and conviction rather than following a blueprint. We like a lot of bands, butI’dlike to name a few of those that have shared
or will soon share the stage with us: Tar Pond,
Excruciation, Schammasch, Vomitheist, Cold Cell, and De l'Abîme Naît l’Aube.
You all have jobs and lives outside the band as
well. How do you manage tofit rehearsals, gigs and everything else
into your schedules? And do you ever
get together just to hang out, without talking
about music?
Erol: It all comes down to dedication. When a project matters to you this much, you don't "find" time—you make it. Having a clear, shared vision makes scheduling rehearsals and live plans possible because everyone is willing to invest their energy. And yes, we definitely unwind together! Whether sharing a meal or just relaxing after a long session, the camaraderie is real—though, admittedly, when you get four metalheads in a room, the conversation usually drifts back to dark riffs and heavy music sooner or later!
Inlitnment is still a
relatively new band, but you already have a lot of experience behind you. What would you like to see
happening with the band over the next few years?
Erol: We want to take our four-piece
band out of the rehearsal room and bring our wall of sound to live stages! We're eager to perform our new, sharper co-written tracks alongside Spiritual Warfare material, record our second album, and continue building an authentic
connection with heavy music connoisseurs worldwide.
