Review of Expecter - Chariot of Steel

Expecter from Aschaffenburg (it's 500 km away from me) dropped their debut EP Chariot of Steel and it genuinely sounds like a bunch of guys who actually love classic heavy metal and aren’t afraid to show it.

Four dudes (the Oster brothers, Vico from Bolivia and Stacky) playing straight-up no-bullshit 80s-style heavy metal. Big riffs, sing-along choruses, galloping rhythms and proper guitar solos. Nothing revolutionary, but that’s exactly the point. The title track Chariot of Steel is a total banger and will definitely go off live. The other songs have that same energy - raw, catchy and full of attitude.

It doesn’t feel like they’re trying too hard to sound “retro”. It just sounds honest. You can tell they’re having a good time playing this stuff, and that energy comes through. The riffs have bite, the leads are melodic in that old-school way, and the whole thing just rocks.

For a debut EP it’s seriously solid. Short, to the point, and leaves you wanting a full-length album. If you’re into real traditional heavy metal - think early Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Accept and that whole spirit - you’ll dig this.

These guys have already been tearing it up live with their energetic shows, and I can totally see why. Leather, chains, mullets and loud fucking guitars - exactly how it should be.Looking forward to hearing more from them. Proper old-school heavy metal done right!
