Today, Ukrainian Groove/Death metal band ARHAT releases a new single and official music video for ‘Sto Dzerkal’ (feat. Sidus Atrum). The new single "Sto dzerkal" is set to music by the poems of the outstanding Ukrainian poet of the sixties Vasyl Stus. The tragic fate of the artist and the piercing lines of his poetry inspired us to create this song. The poem "Sto dzerkal" is included in the collection "Palimpsesty", which was published after the author's death in 1986. This book is considered the pinnacle of the artist's work and consists of selected poems from different periods. Musically, the single is a mid-tempo death metal with elements of groove metal, with ethnic and ambient melodies inherent to the band's style in the background. We invited Yulia Lykhotvor from the Kyiv black-doom band "Sidus Atrum" to record the vocal parts. Her scream and growl enhanced the emotional component of the work. A music video was also shot for the song. In the video, we wanted to show what we thought Stus's arrest might have looked like. The main idea that we wanted to convey with the help of the clip is that Muscovy has been trying to erase our identity for more than a dozen years by destroying our artists, scientists and cultural figures. It imposes its language and worldview with fire and sword. Khvylovy, Kurbas, Stus, Ratushny... and hundreds more killed and tortured, all of them were destroyed by Muscovites. But they continue to speak to us through their works, poems and paintings. Watch here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?
