Good day! How are you guys doing these days?
Everything is fine, thank you.
First of all, please introduce REPETITA IUVANT and band members to our readers.
Andrea - drums
Cristof - guitar and synth
Daniele - guitar and synth
I would like to know about the formation of the band. How did you guys meet and all? Also, is there any special story behind the band title?
The name comes from the project I started in the early 2000s. It is a Franciscan motto.
Can you please tell us about the concept and lyrical themes of all your previous releases?
We don't use lyrics, just music. The project begins with a trilogy based on the number 3 (3ep, 3+1ep, and 7Lp) and moves on to a new trilogy based on the number 2 (¹2 and new album 3+2).
Is there any special reason for choosing your music conception?
No reason, it's simply the musical genre that best represents us.
How do you guys manage to create music at all? What challenges do you face while writing and recording an album?
We record live, inside our studio, improvising.
Your latest album, "3+2", was released on April 10th. How was the experience working in the studio? Were there any funny or even sad happenings during the studio work?
There are many funny episodes, but better not to tell them.
You guys are still underground/underrated, although your music has been appreciated by the critics worldwide. What, according to you, is the reason behind it?
Thanks for what you say. The main problem, for now, is that we can't be professional musicians. We all have our jobs, and this penalizes us.
Can you shed some light on your past as musicians?
We all come from different backgrounds. Repetita Iuvant was founded in 2005 as a classic trio (guitar, bass, and drums), and we played until 2013 without recording any albums, only live music. Then, we were reborn in 2018, and from there our recording history began.
Tell us about your favorite bands from whom you gain inspiration. Do you have any favorite artists/bands that have emerged from the metal/rock scene?
Sonic Youth, This Heat, Van Der Graaf Generator, Gong, King Crimson, Alice in Chains, Frank Zappa, Godspeed You!, Black Emperor, Mogwai, and all psychedelia, post-rock, new wave, post-metal, and prog from the 60s to today.
How is the post-rock music scene going in Italy?
Very bad, it's a genre that has great difficulty finding outlets, after all, we are the country of singer-songwriters.
Tell us if you have played abroad.
Unfortunately, we haven't played abroad yet, but we are getting organized to do some dates.
Are you working on any music videos, whether it be a video clip or a lyric video?
No.
Rapid-fire section. Just for fun. So just chill and type the first thought that comes to your mind when you hear:
Harbor - sea rock
Marble - Alps
Fog - dog
Tunnel - hole
Sunday - party
Thanks a lot for your time! It's really nice to know more about you. Would you like to say anything to your fans and our readers?
Yes, buy our vinyl, try to come to our shows. We improvise a lot live, and every show is a different experience. And help us find festival dates.
You're all invited to the festival I'm organizing in Tuscany, Sonic Alps, where we'll be playing live with Repetita Iuvant. Free entry, free camping available. May 30th and 31st, at the Donogani refuge, in the Apuan Alps in the province of Lucca. a big hug.
