Norwegian extreme metal titans DIMMU BORGIR today unleash Grand Serpent Rising, their long-awaited new studio album and first full-length release in eight years since Eonian.
Formed in 1993 by guitarist Sven “Silenoz” Kopperud and vocalist Stian “Shagrath” Thoresen during the height of Norway’s second-wave black metal movement, DIMMU BORGIR have never rushed the creative process — and the crushing weight and cinematic scope of Grand Serpent Rising prove the wait was worthwhile. Recorded in Gothenburg with acclaimed producer Fredrik Nordström — the architect behind landmark Dimmu Borgir albums Puritanical Euphoric Misanthropia and Death Cult Armageddon — the new record delivers thirteen punishing yet remarkably diverse tracks that push the band’s symphonic extremity to towering new heights.
