Following up on last month’s signing news and new song, Long Island NY’s EXTINCTION A.D. waste no time hitting you again with “Thaw” – another new track and complementing music video. Available on all streaming/download platforms, or watch HERE - https://youtu.be/6Puj5EpkAtk?si=4ZbBP7-0IVrY9d-b
“It’s very easy to assume writing an anti-authoritarian song is passé in heavy music in 2026, but as a band that exists in both the metal world and the hardcore world, it’s surprisingly polarizing,” explains singer/guitarist Rick Jimenez. “The ‘defenders of the status quo’ all the way to the ‘regressive back-to-the-past’ thinking infiltrating our scenes is purely bizarre to me. This song is an unabashed condemnation of the abuse of federal power in the ICE organization and the denial of celebrating racist and fascist ideals under the guise of supporting politicians.”
“The video for ‘Thaw’ was to bring like-minded people into our world and be just as, if not more, important than the four members of the band. It’s not just our song, it’s everyone's song.”
NoEcho.net writes this about “Thaw” - “True to their sonic aggression, the band is assertive in what their music and message is. Itself a refreshing ethos in such uncertain times. It’s important to note that Extinction A.D.’s members aren’t born of just one musical underground. Their talents, former bands, and musical palettes draw from punk, hardcore, metal, and more. Community is what they’re about.”
Filled with angst and rebellion EXTINCTION A.D. bring metal and hardcore influences to create crossover for a new generation and for older fans missing the integrity and traditional bombast this band brings.

EXTINCTION A.D. recently announced a run of shows in April supporting Exhorder and Skinlab. Look for all shows below. Since forming in 2013 in Medford, Long Island from the ashes of This Is Hell, EXTINCTION A.D. has forged a reputation for relentless crossover thrash infused with hardcore urgency and socially charged themes. Over the past decade the band has grown from raw underground roots to sharing stages with respected acts and carving out a distinct voice in the modern metal landscape.
Four albums out, on labels like Good Fight and Unique Leader, further showcase the band’s capability to merge fierce riff work with emotional and thematic depth. Their output has drawn comparisons to powerful East Coast thrash and hardcore hybrids, with critics praising their raw energy and ability to keep the classic thrash ethos alive while pushing it forward. Thrashing just as hard as their predecessors, the band also break their surroundings down and deliver some heavy as hell riotous mosh; hitting that all-important sweet spot mixture of ‘80s thrash, ‘90s extreme metal and New York hardcore, all encompassed into one. Never afraid to speak their minds amidst a divisive world, EXTINCTION A.D. bring a decisive power to match their frenetic energy. The endgame is not just rebellion but revolution.
