CLAUSTROFOBIA, coming off their third national US tour, waste little time and deliver another punch of new music with “AQUI NÃO.” The standalone new number is vicious attack sung in the group’s native Portuguese with a special surprise Brazilian guest - Ratos de Porao singer João Gordo. The song is available now on all streaming/download digital platforms, or watch the entertaining animated video clip HERE https://youtu.be/QNdmZveCPfM?si=vuAgr5HNFOPIGtty
“‘AQUI NÃO’ is a 100% Brazilian Thrash–Core–Death crossover, with an acidic lyric that sparks identification on different levels, but above all makes it clear that we will never be contaminated by human traps — amplified by the virtual world and dominant in today’s landscape,” states singer/guitarist Marcus D’Angelo.
“The track reinforces that we do not give up our principles, even at a time when everyone seems forced to surrender or adapt to some convenient rule. And nothing could be more appropriate than calling João Gordo from the legendary Ratos de Porao, the absolute master of Brazilian Punk/Hardcore, to vociferate this resistance with us, spreading discomfort exactly where it deserves to be felt.”
João Gordo, vocalist of Ratos de Porão, adds “Man, it’s an honor for me to take part in a Claustrofobia track. I’ve already collaborated on songs with almost every major metal band in Brazil — Sepultura, Krisiun, Nervosa — and I always said, ‘damn, man, the only one missing was Claustrofobia.’ When I heard the song, I thought it was killer.
Claustrofobia is one of the strongholds of angry metal in Brazil — truly furious. I’ve seen their show from the side stage and was blown away by the fury, the rage, and the fire in the eyes of these two brothers. Being part of this song was a pleasure. It’s a conscious track, with strong lyrics, you know? And sung in Portuguese, which I value a lot, especially being performed here in our own country. That’s it. Not much else to say. It’s fucking heavy.”
CLAUSTROFOBIA originally from Brazil relocated to the US six years ago in an attempt to break into the US market. CLAUSTROFOBIA began playing local shows in their new home of Las Vegas, and playing regional dates around the western US supporting Exciter, Lich King, Vader, Krisiun, Warbringer and Heathen, in addition to performing at festivals like Charged Noise Fest, Devastation in the Desert, and the Art of Music Fest. In 2024 CLAUSTROFOBIA did two US tours opening for Exmortus, Generation Kill and Hatriot, as well as one of the biggest metal tours last fall – Sepultura’s final US run including support from such genre heavyweights Obituary and Agnostic Front. And last fall CLAUSTROFOBIA supported Crypta on their headlining US run.
‘Unleeched’ was produced, mixed and mastered by Adair Daufembach (Angra, Cadaver, Tony MacAlpine) with cover artwork by Alcides Burn and the domestic release contains two bonus tracks.
CLAUSTROFOBIA’s history dates back to Marcus founding the band 30 years ago in Brazil and releasing a couple demos in the mid-‘90s. By 2000 with his brother, Caio D’Angelo on drums, the then-quartet released a self-titled album kicking off a run of six albums over the next 16 years with S. American and European distribution and live shows with Slayer, Soulfly and Napalm Death and festival appearances at Portugal’s Barrocelas and the infamous Rock in Rio.
