Canadian technical death metal project Philippe Drouin Obvurt previously announced their first double-guitar album, Le Chemin Du Gaucher, set for release on January 16th, 2026. Today, the band unveils their new single, ‘Aria on the G String (J.S. Bach, 1685–1750),’ via the Circle Pit YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oh-_iVLlGZA
Philippe Drouin Obvurt was officially born in 2023 in Quebec City, Canada, following an invitation from Olivier Berseli, who asked Philippe Drouin if he could perform a live solo performance with his double guitar in the CKRL 89.1 studios.
Philippe Drouin Obvurt gave his first live performance on May 19th 2023, in the CKRL studios, performing the entire EP "Obvurt - The Beginning" with his double guitar. Following this performance and his new Double-guitar, Dean acquired from guitar teacher Michael Angelo Batio, Philippe started to write his own music on this instrument.
Once all guitars, bass, and vocals were tracked, Philippe asked his friend John Longstreth, Origin’s drummer, if we can record the drums.
Philippe Drouin, Le Chemin Du Gaucher is now set for a Brutal Mind release on January 16th, 2026, and a release show is also scheduled on that date. Obvurt’s drummer, «Mitch» will enter John’s shoes for this first release show.
