Hi there! How are you doing these days?
Very good we're finishing last details of our Canadian tour and waiting for the release of our brand new album Sideral Voivod, also our summer gigs are keeping us busy.
How would you classify your music? Do you agree with the reviewers who are trying to describe your musical genre?
It's kinda what we want to listen music, represent our self making our weakness our strength; yeah we kinda like what people say about us but we are more a live band, so we prefer direct talking with our crowd, it's our best reviewer.
Who are your top five musical influences?
It's not easy to say only five considering 3 heads are involved but we can try: L7, Fu Manchu, Quotsa, RedFang, Muse.
What do you want fans to take away from your music? Is it just a mood, or do you hope to communicate specific ideas?
We are not so mechanic in our music it's just what we want to play, everyone can have is own interpretation for us it's fine.
Can you tell us about Sideral Voivod?
It's our 3rd studio album not considering the protogodzilla Ep, gives a deeper explanation of our idea of Stoner Rock, and of what a live band can do, everything it's one shot recorded with no overdub, to get the toughest and grovyest effect possible.
What do you love and hate about the music business?
We are more in to music loving and sharing our passion with the others,
What is the best concert you have ever been to? What do you enjoy most about playing live?
It's not easy to decide but I remember El Puente in Japan was pretty wild; the best thing about playing live it's that of course you have your set list... but nothing it's written in stone, we love to improvise and follow the feelings that the crowds give us.
How have you evolved as an artist or band over the past year?
Playing live the most we can make us grow as musicians and as persons too. We had great experiences playing around the world and met a lot of different bands that inspired us too.
If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, or get drunk with any band or artist (dead or alive), who would it be?
I think that Dave Grohl it's the man for us, all of us Love or Nirvana, or foo fighters or have been inspired by is job in Quotsa.
What's next for GODZILLA WAS TOO DRUNK TO DESTROY TOKYO?
We're planning gigs and festivals as always and composing new material, there's no actual limit to our imagination, keep following us and see what happens!
