Adelon interview

• Hi! Can you tell me about Adelon? Why did you choose that name for the band? What kind of ideas does the band explore?

I heard the name Adelon in a documentary on Carl Jung. The word Adelon is supposed to be an old Greek word to describe the state before creation. When I heard it, I immediately thought that it’ll be a great band name.

Lyrically we explore varied topics on our most recent EP. From apocalyptic vision of the future or metaphorical exploration of psychological issues. But we’re currently working on a concept album now, so the ideas will directly link to the story we are writing.

• The EP "Resurgence" was released last year. Do you feel that you have put the EP out to the masses without any desire to change anything now?

I feel like there’s always room for improvement, but we’re very happy with what we’ve done at that time. It’s hard to say when something is truly finished, you can always add some layer or record a better version of a riff. If you think like this all the time, you never release anything.

• Can you tell me more about the instrumental version of Resurgence?

Because the music of Adelon is very dense, we wanted to give the spotlight to the instrumentation behind the vocals. Alex Sedin, who mixed the original EP, sent us instrumental version when he mixed the Resurgence EP in 2023.

The songs are always instrumental at first, so we kinda get used to hearing them that way at first.

• Where do you draw inspiration from?

Any kind of music, but also from books, movies and video games too ! We try not to listen to too much music when writing, so we’re not too influenced by other people’s ideas.

• How would you best define Adelon's sound?

Mid tempo Tech Death (According to our friends in The Scalar Process).

• Are you on hiatus now, just relaxing, or have you started composing new material immediately?

We’re hard at work on our very first LP.

• Who are your main musical influences? How much of an impact have they had on your sound?

Gojira, Fallujah, Decapitated, Opeth, … They each have something unique that we tried to add to our sound.

• Is there a particular well-known musician that you would like to collaborate with on one of your upcoming albums?

Joe from Gojira!

• What is your personal strategy for getting your music heard by a larger audience?

Finding the right website, reddit page or Facebook group first. Then, working with the right PR.

• Do you have any hobbies besides music?

We’re all fans of any Fromsoftware games, so right now we’re playing some Nightreign.

Besides that some of us loves being outdoor and hacking.

• Are you all supported by your families in your dedication to music?

They supported us from the start, and they try to come to shows when it’s not too far!

• Thank you for answering my questions. See you on the road!

Thanks for having us!
