Octopus Rising, the (un)parallel label of Argonauta Records dedicated to emerging and boundary-pushing bands, proudly announces the release of “The Void or The Abyss,” the new digital EP by Dutch stoner/doom/post-rock trio MoD. Based in Tilburg (The Netherlands), MoD is made up of Bart de Groot (vocals and guitar), Arno Kroes (drums), and Samy Benayad (bass). Their sound blends massive stoner riffs, gritty doom grooves, and post-rock atmospheres, drawing inspiration from the likes of Kyuss, Truckfighters, Monolord, and Russian Circles. Their music is rooted in a desire to escape the daily grind and take listeners on an intense, immersive sonic ride. “The Void or The Abyss” reflects the band’s deeply personal journey, touching on themes such as confronting illness in the family, becoming a parent, aging, and navigating political disillusionment. The EP fuses heavy grooves and melodic textures into a unique hybrid of stoner, grunge, and post-rock. It was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Bart de Groot at Digger’s Studios in Tilburg.
