Hi AVENGER OF BLOOD! How are you doing these days?
Very Well! Thanks for asking and a chance to do this interview.
How would you classify your music? Do you agree with the reviewers who describe your musical genre as DEATH/THRASH?
Yeah I could say that’s accurate. More thrash than death metal but we are inspired and influenced by the old school death metal scene. Our last album went a more death metal style, but we are back to doing like our first 2 albums again. Just more mature I would say.
Who are your top five musical influences?
Well that’s kinda hard to answer. As a band our influences are Slayer, Sodom, Kreator, Destruction and … I guess just throw any other band in there. But those 4 bands are really influential in what we are.
Personally though, Slayer, Quiet Riot, Edge of Sanity, Ozzy and most importantly Black Sabbath.
What do you want fans to take away from your music? Is it just a mood, or do you hope to communicate specific ideas?
We aren’t saying anything to effect anyone or anything. Our songs are just stories influenced by horror movies and things that have happened in real life. It’s pretty aggressive stuff really, so we just want people to enjoy it like we do.
Can you tell us about the forthcoming EP Revenge Is My Name?
It’s a 4 song EP and it’s pretty relentless musically. The songs are really catchy. Great riffs, good structure, very aggressive vocals and the works! We did it all ourselves and it has taken some time but we had a great time making it and we learned a lot. We are a good team in working together. M-Theory Audio showed interest and it’s great to be on such a great label to release it with.
What do you love and hate about the music business?
The people, the other bands, making music and seeing reactions to it live or comments are always great! What I hate is the actual business sense of it all. Things change constantly and it’s tough to understand sometimes. I try not to focus on the negative though.
What is the best concert you have ever been to? What do you enjoy most about playing live?
That’s a hard question to answer! The 2nd edition of 70,000 Tons of Metal. But if that doesn’t count, then I would say Ozzy’s final show of the No More Tours tour, The original Sabbath reformed for 4 songs! Ozzy was great. Seeing Sabbath with Halford singing was amazing and Sepultura opening the show. Phenomenal!
Playing live it’s the energy between the band and the crowd!
How have you evolved as an artist or band over the past year?
We just got tighter as a band and tighter personally. This is still a fairly new line-up so things are still developing between us all.
If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, or get drunk with any band or artist (dead or alive), who would it be?
Black Sabbath! Yeah that would just be amazing!
What's next for you?
We are continuing writing and getting our new full length written and recorded. Playing some shows and keeping on doing what we are. Seeing the EP “Revenge is My Name” out and the reactions! Lots of exciting things happening!
