BOZOO interview

How would you describe your music, and which bands have been your biggest influences?

Our music is a fusion of classic stoner rock with a heavy dose of acid grunge and alternative rock. We aim for a raw, uncompromising sound that feels both powerful and stripped-down—no frills, just pure energy. In terms of influences, we’ve drawn from the depth of bands like Kyuss and early Queens of the Stone Age, who are masters of melding heavy riffs with a gritty, atmospheric vibe.

How many albums or demos has BOZOO released so far, and which ones are your personal favorites?

Our journey began with Three Heads, an EP that represented our initial exploration into the stoner sound. This year, we released our self-titled debut album, Bozoo, with Argonauta Records, which has a rawer, more mature vibe. Picking a favorite is tough, but Bozoo represents where we are now, blending heavy riffs and emotional depth in a way that feels truer to our artistic vision.

Has BOZOO’s music evolved over the years, and if so, how?

Definitely. From the dreamier sounds of our earlier work, we’ve shifted toward a more intense and direct style. Our new album is a lot more powerful and cohesive, focusing on creating an immersive experience that really reflects the depth and weight of our themes. We’re still rooted in stoner rock, but each song now has a clear, punchy identity, and we’re more willing to experiment with structure and mood.

How long does it typically take for BOZOO to record an album?

For Bozoo, the process took about a year and a half from conception to release. We approach each track thoughtfully, and we’re not afraid to go back and rework ideas until they feel right. We tend to write and record in phases, allowing each track to develop organically.

Can you tell us more about your latest album, “Bozoo”?

Bozoo is more than just a collection of songs; it’s an intense sonic journey that we hope listeners will feel fully immersed in. Each track is crafted to reflect different facets of stoner rock, from heavy riffs to evocative, raw lyrics. The album blends authenticity with experimentation, and each song is its own chapter in an overarching story. We wanted to create a piece of work that feels like an escape, a way to lose yourself in the music.

What’s next for BOZOO? Are you working on any new albums, and if so, can you give us some details?

Right now, we’re letting Bozoo settle in with listeners, but we’re already brewing new ideas. Our goal is to keep evolving, so the next album will likely take us into even heavier, more layered territory. We’re also interested in incorporating some unexpected sounds or textures. But for now, we’re letting the ideas come naturally.

Do you have any upcoming tours or gigs planned to promote your latest album?

Yes, we’re hitting the stage soon to bring the full Bozoo experience to our fans. We’re planning shows in Italy. We can’t wait to connect with fans and play these songs live.

Are there any plans for BOZOO to play in Europe or the USA in the future?

Europe is definitely in our sights, and we’d love to make it to the USA at some point too. Right now, we’re focused on establishing our presence locally and in nearby regions, but bringing our music across borders is something we’re passionate about. We’re working on finding the right opportunities to make it happen.

Have you ever done any opening acts for major heavyweight bands? If so, when and where?

We had the opportunity to do opening act for Stuart Braithwaite from Mogway. We’re in the process of lining up more shows, and opening for some established acts in the stoner or alternative rock scene would be an incredible opportunity.

What is your opinion on the stoner rock scene in your city?

In Italy, stoner rock is definitely more underground, but the passion and dedication of the fans here are unparalleled. We’re grateful to be part of this growing community and to have platforms that support bands like ours. We’d love to see even more stoner and alternative shows here to grow the scene, and we’re excited to contribute to that.

Do you have any messages for our readers?

To everyone discovering Bozoo—thank you for tuning in! Our music is all about creating an experience, so throw on some headphones or catch us live and let yourself get lost in the sound.
