DUNE PILOT interview

Hi DUNE PILOT! How are you doing these days?

We’re doing great, thanks. We’re excited and can’t wait for the record to be released!

How would you classify your music? Do you agree with the reviewers who are trying to describe your musical genre?

We would say that we play more the straight forward stoner rock. Stoner has evolved a lot the last years. But we kept not being too doomy, sludgy or psych. But it’s a thing with describing genres. So, we’re not mad at anybody having their own opinions about our music.

Who are your top five musical influences?

Only five? Okay, then it’s gonna be Rainbow, Sabbath, Kyuss, Pantera, Down, Pink Floyd. Okay, wait… Five…

What do you want fans to take away from your music? Is it just a mood, or do you hope to communicate specific ideas?

It’s the mood and having a good time. When you just focus on the sound disregarding anything else around you. That’s what music is for us.

Can you tell us about Magnetic?

It’s mixed with up- and mid tempo tracks. With breakdowns, with dynamics. We really love it because it’s very diverse. And you should listen to it.

What do you love and hate about the music business?

The stoner scene is a loyal scene. You won’t be forgotten that fast. You always feel pretty welcome. We can’t say that about many other scenes. We love that it doesn’t stop growing. There are always new bands coming up.

Corona showed that it needs the whole scene to keep it together and go through hard times together.

What is the best concert you have ever been to? What do you enjoy most about playing live?

Every concert is special in a good or a bad way. But when we feel that kind of flow on stage electrifying the crowd, that’s one of the greatest things.

How have you evolved as an artist or band over the past year?

Well, of course we all work on our personal skills. Also you melt together day by day as a band. Jams just flow because you know your mates. What has never changed through the years is that urge, just playing with the guys. Just loving to create new tunes. And when it ends in a new record - even better!

If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, or get drunk with any band or artist (dead or alive), who would it be?

Having some drinks with Mr. Kilmister would probably have been great (says Andris, vox).

What's next for you?

We’re just planning the release show. After that, let’s see where a tour leads us to.
