Varechian is not so young French band, they exist since 2020 but actually since 1993; they have changed band's title from Varech to Varechian in 2020. Thus we can see musicians are pretty experienced guys (every one of them has also participated in other bands). But the story of Varechian (and Varech) is not so solid unfortunately, Choosen Reekhearsals Demo was released in 1994, debut full-length Coldead Marble Memories in 2016 and finally Tabula Rasa Ultima /// The Morbidoom))) in 2021.
Musically Tabula Rasa Ultima /// The Morbidoom))) is some kind of blackened death metal but I'm here to disappoint those who like 'classic' blackened death metal and so on because Varechain music is set to be a bit experimental in the end. First off, sometimes I could hear music influenced by bands like Samael, Celtic Frost, Darkthrone and so on (including all those 'ugh!'), those old bands while they played a kind of dirty sounded killer metal. Sometimes Varechian sounds even thrashy, sometimes a-la mystic heavy metal, sometimes groovy... The very long intro (I'm sorry but more than 5 minutes intro... Of course, I understand it is a part of album's atmosphere/idea etc) makes me a bit sick because I do not like long intros, sorry but it is up to me). After the intro I got a portion of intense, straight-forward metal assault with great tempo changes, slowdowns, good drumming, and evil vocals. The whole album atmosphere is really mystic and Varechian created their music in intelligent way, music instruments sound nice to each other.
I like Tabula Rasa Ultima /// The Morbidoom))) for its honest attitude, catching parts and just good music.
