Review of THUNDERMAKER - The Road

Thundermaker was formed in 2013 in Karlshamn, Blekinge / Sweden. The band consists of two members and plays traditional heavy metal. The Road is the band's third full-length album.

Sweden got a bunch of good heavy metal bands and Thundermakes continues their crusade with ten songs album.

This album is interesting because of several reasons. First off - the music is enough good, highly influenced by DIO, Fates Warning and Deep Purple. The second thing is guests on the album, for example, Tim "Ripper" Owens on "Fire Burns Forever" and Ronny Munroe from Metal Church, L-G Petrov or Rille Larsson (sorry but I do not know this guy) on other tracks. To say these guys did something special for this record is equal to saying nothing because all of us know these masters and we all know they are able to do the things! This collaboration is also good because in spite of several different 'guests' the album sounds as one whole thing but not compilation of ideas. I do not know how would this album sound without them but it sounds absolutely top-notch with them. But okay, in any case, Thundermaker is a separate project so let's see deep into the music.

As said before there is a traditional heavy metal from the past, every chord has been already played thousands of times but any new album consists of 'already played' stuff, isn't it? The heavy metal on The Road is built with both fast and mid-paced parts, some interesting tempo changes, thresholds, good clear vocals and so on. The sound is enough massive and the arrangements well done. I like all the ideas on this album so I cannot say I like something more and something less, so let's say I like all the ideas might those be slow or fast parts or whatever. The recording quality is on good level as well, for me there is nothing to 'change', everything is made good.

Album contains many memorable and catching things and will definitely be accepted by everybody into 'old sounds' of metal.

Album released in 2021 by Sliptrick Records. Promo materials received from Grand Sounds Promotion.
