Good day Panzerkrieg 666! How are you guys doing these days?
We are doing fine. Hope you´re fine too. Thanks for the interview.
First of all, please introduce your band and band members to our readers.
We are a new Black Metal band from Northrhine-Westfalia / Germany. We play more speedy and brutal blasting Black Metal.
I’d like to know about the formation of the band. How did you guys meet and all? Also, is there any special story behind the band title?
HvS plays all instruments and me, MvM, I´m on vocals. We have been playing together in some other bands for years.
In real life we are friends and just decided to do something else.
When we were talking about doing Black Metal first of all we were talking about lyrical topics because we already knew we´d do something else.
In this context Panzerkrieg came to our mind. When we recognized Panzerkrieg already existed as a band from the US we put 666 to the name.
I expect a long reply for this one. Can you please tell us about the concept and lyrical themes of all your previous releases?
In general we are singing about war and second World War.
In our opinion it´s one of the last taboos you can do as a band from Germany which is completely nonsense.
German history is connected with the second World War so why not sing about it.
Art should be limitless but it´s not, especially in Germany.
People are losing their minds when it comes to this topic.
So it´s perfect for doing some provocative form of Black Metal.
Instead of declaring everything as Nazi stuff people should use their brains independently.
Is there any special reason for choosing your music conception?
We had no motivation to sing about Satanism. All is said and done about that.
As I said it fits perfectly to our dark and aggressive sound to sing about war in general.
How do you guys manage to create music at all? What challenges do you face while writing and recording an album?
For the first time we are doing everything by our own. HvS recorded the instrumental parts in his home studio. Vocal recordings were done at our rehearsal room. Even mix and mastering were done by our own.
It´s quite a lot of work but we like to manage it as a whole from start to end all by ourselves, not being dependent on anybody.
You released an EP in April. How was the experience working in the studio? Any funny or even sad happenings during the studio work?
As I said we were able to do it completely on our own.
It´s quite funny if people would know the conditions under which everything was recorded / mixed / mastered. But the result is very satisfying to us, especially as we did it without any outside help whatsoever.
You guys are still underground/underrated, although the critics have appreciated your music. What, according to you, is the reason behind it?
We are happy with the reactions we got so far. We were convinced the EP sounds great in its entirety.
It´s just our first sign of life as a new Black Metal band, so you can expect to hear new music soon.
Can you throw some light on your past as musicians?
We both have been active for 20 plus years in the german extreme Metal underground scene.
We have been playing in various Death Metal bands in the past.
Tell us about your favorite bands, from whom you gain inspiration. Are you having any favorite artist/band that has emerged from metal/rock soil?
It´s hard to tell or to pick some special bands as inspiration. We are really open minded and listen to very different styles of music.
You can´t say we are Black Metal lunatics. There is just a lot of good different music out there.
Tell us, if you have played abroad.
Well, we did. I played shows in the the past in the Netherlands, Belgium and Czech Republic.
I guess HvS even played shows in Austria and Switzerland. Not sure about it.
But you can say we were quite active about playing live in the past with our former bands.
Are you working on any music videos, might it be videoclip or lyric video?

At the moment we like to do lyric videos for our music.
It´s a quite good way to combine our music with war imagery. We will do this in the future for our upcoming releases as well I guess.
